Coastal habitats are incredibly valuable. They sequester carbon, support fisheries and provide coastal protection, yet we are losing them fast. A new level of understanding of values provided by the marine environment has the potential to create investment opportunities at scale, but also carries risks for indigenous people and local communities. This panel brings together storytellers, scientists, restoration specialists, and investors to debate rights in blue natural capital projects.

Blue Marine FoundationBlue Marine Foundation is a UK ocean conservation charity set up in 2010 by some of the team behind the award-winning documentary film ‘The End of the Line’. Blue Marine aims to restore the ocean to health by addressing overfishing, one of the world’s biggest environmental problems. The charity is dedicated to creating marine reserves, restoring vital habitats and establishing models of sustainable fishing. Its mission is to see 30 per cent of the world’s ocean under effective protection by 2030 and the other 70 per cent responsibly managed.
