Progresses in study of mechanisms of carbon sequestration in the ocean, including microbial carbon pumps, laid a scientific basis for implementing negative ocean carbon emissions (ONCE) and remediation of the environment. The Global ONCE UN Decade program co-design responsible and ethical road-map for sustainable ecosystems while increasing carbon sinks, serving COP29 in line with UNCCF goals.
