Plankton and Climate Change: Indicators, Stressors, and Carbon Storage
Sunday, December 10, 2023 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM · 1 hr. (Asia/Dubai)
Main Theatre
National Oceanography Centre (NOC)
Ocean Stressors, Signals & Warning Signs
Information
Plankton are the base of the ocean food web and mediate our climate. Plankton communities are susceptible to climate change, with implications for ocean carbon storage and fisheries. We will discuss indicators of change in plankton ecosystems from sustained observations, new technologies that will help us understand these changes better, potential tipping points in plankton ecosystems and potential early warning systems, and the implications of these changes for CDR, policy, and ocean life.
